Today Stone is brewing it’s first Collaboration of the new year; this time teaming up with fellow Golden State breweries Firestone Walker and 21st Amendment. When brewing is finished, Mitch Steele (Stone), Shaun O’Sullivan (21st) and Matt Brynildson (FW) will be holding a Meet the Brewers: Collaboration Day Wrap-Up event at Stone’s brewery. Here is the event information:
We have been eagerly plotting our first collaboration of 2010! We can’t announce the beer yet, but we’d like to introduce our co-conspirators: this time we’ve teamed up with two fellow California craft brewers, Firestone Walker and 21st Amendment. Join us at the Bistro’s outside bar to celebrate our collective achievement, and you may even get to try some of the unfermented wort. Have a pint with Matt, Shaun, and Mitch, and congratulate them on a job well done!
This will be a casual ebb and flow affair and no reservations are needed. And remember that an essential part of collaboration is sharing, so feel free to bring a homebrew or two to share with everyone and we’ll even waive the corkage fees!
I just want to mention that Stone continues to impress me with their dedication to the homebrew community. When each Vertical Epic is release, Stone also releases a recipe and detailed instructions for brewing a 5 gallon batch at home. This is followed by a year long contest where homebrewers can try their hand at creating the best Vertical Epic clone.
Stone also hosts monthly meetings of The Society of Barley Engineers homebrew club and a yearly AHA membership rally. Stone’s 2009 rally was the largest ever for the AHA. The rally included a homebrew competition where the winning beer, Ken Schmidt’s Aloha Plenty Porter became the base for the last brew in the Collaboration series; Ken Schmidt/Stone/Maui Kona Coffee, Macadamia, Coconut Porter. Information on that beer and other previous Collaborations is available HERE.
Cheers!
