Back in July, I stopped by Oakshire Brewing for one of their weekly Saturday tastings. While Matt was showing everyone the expanded brewery space, he pointed out two bourbon barrels that were being used to age Overcast Espresso Stout and Watershed IPA. He said it was the beginning of their barrel aging program.
Yesterday, I noticed a post on the Oaskshire Brewing Blog that outlined all the beers they have either brewed this year, or are in the process of brewing. The post also included a list of what is currently in their barrel aging program.
Barrel Aging Program
Bourbon Barrel IPA
Bourbon Barrel Stout
Cerise Noir (wheat with organic cherries in Oregon Pinot Barrel)-just carbonated
Bourbon aged Collaborative Evil-kegging tomorrow
Berliner Weisse-aging in Pinot barrels
Flemish Sour-Brett doing work right now.
Wine barrel aged Collaborative Evil (some with Brett, some without)
Pinot Noir aged Very Ill Tempered Gnome
Now that is one tasty list. If the rest of the beers in their aging program turn out as good as the bourbon barrel IPA, we are not far away from some more fantastic beer.
Cheers!
