I just swung by my local Albertsons to pick up some groceries. I was shocked by the amount of new brews they had. There was a big stack of Widmer’s W’10 Pitch Black IPA at one end of the aisle, six days ahead of its supposed release date. Coincidentally, Hopworks is also releasing a Black IPA for the new year; Secession on January 5th. Bottles will follow shortly, hitting stores on my Birthday, January 15th.

At the other end of the aisle was a display of Deschutes Cinder Cone. For those who don’t know yet, this is Cinder Cone’s final year (for now) and it is only being released in Oregon, Western Washington and Hawaii. The rest of the Deschutes kingdom is getting Red Chair NWPA; a pale ale version of their Red Chair IPA. When Cinder Cone runs out, we will also be cut over to Red Chair.
Finally, hiding in the cooler behind the Ebenezer were sixers of Hop Czar Imperial IPA. This is the first of BridgePort’s Big Brews to make the move from bomber to 12oz bottle.

Earlier today I was trying to figure out what I wanted to pick up for the Rose Bowl this Friday. After my trip to the market, I think my problem is solved.
Go Ducks!
