Eugene Beer Week Starts Tomorrow!

We are just a few hours away from the start of the 2nd Annual Eugene Beer Week. A full event list is up at www.eugenebeerweek.org, to help guide you through the next seven days beer majesty. With over 40 events taking place around town next week, it should shouldn’t (nice catch typo editor) be hard to find something that tickles your widget. As for me, here are my picks for each night:

Monday • 12-9pm • 2009 Critical Hit Barley Wine @ Ninkasi
Ninkasi is kicking off EBW 2012 by tapping a keg of 2009 Critical Hit Barleywine at noon. And for those not in the mood for a barleywine-fueled lunch, swinging by from 6-8pm will net you live music from the Whiskey Chasers and a trivia contest. It is also Ninkasi’s Pints for a Cause night, which means 25% off all pint sales goes to the Cascadia Wildlands.

Tuesday • 7:30pm Brewer’s Dinner @ Falling Sky
A 4-course dinner from Falling Sky’s chef, Corey, paired with 6 of the brewery’s beers, including the Cloud Break Munich Helles, being released tomorrow. Tickets are $65 and are available at Falling Sky.

Menu

Cloud Break Munich Helles

House Charcuterie Plate w/ Upside Brown Mustard • Dr. Optic Standard Bitter

Leafy Salad w/ Market Vegetables & IPA Dressing • Oranjekoorts Belgian Pale Ale

Hop Salt Roasted Salmon, Grilled Asparagus, Meyer Lemon Relish & Herb Butter • Trouble Everyday ISA (India Session Ale)

Lamb Sausage, Bacon-Potato Salad & Sugar Snap Peas • Upside Brown Ale

Wednesday • 5:30-7pm • Beer and Barrel Education 101 @ Oakshire Brewing
Join Oakshire Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk for a lesson in barrel-aged beers. Taste some rare treats from Oakshire’s Barrel Program and learn about the fail-licious Hellshire II. This event is limited to 20 people. Tickets are $10 and include food. Contact Amanda (amanda@oakbrew.com) to reserve a seat.

Thursday • 6-11pm • 13th Street Pub Crawl with Oakshire
Grab your bike head down to Hot Mama’s Wings for a pub “crawl” with the Oakshire Crew. Pub Crawl stops include:
Hot Mama’s Wings • 6pm
Cornucopia Maize Lounge • 7pm

The Webfoot Bar & Grill • 9pm
Rennie’s Landing • 10pm
Wild Duck • 11pm

Friday • 5:30pm and 8pm • Charcuterie Wars @ 16 Tons Cafe
Continuing the popular Beer vs Wine wars, this time King Estates and The Commons Brewery (formerly Beetje) face off over charcuterie. Once again, Falling Sky’s Corey is handling the food, preparing five courses of charcuterie for the contestants to pair their wares. The menu includes:
Beet Cured Salmon & Pickled Ramps
Country Pork Terrine & Pickled Hop Shoots
Duck Prosciutto & Tarragon Pickled Carrots
Chicken Liver Mousse & Sherry Pickled Shallots
and Lentil Pate & Honey Potted Hazelnuts

There are two sessions, the first at 5:30pm, the second at 8pm. Tickets are $30 and are available at both 16 Tons locations, or online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
